Ahead of 2023 gubernatorial election, Women Political Appointees from the Southern zone has thrown its weight behind Governor Simon Bako Lalong Senatorial Ambition, this follows the presentation of Nomination and Express of interest to the executive governor by a political group known as legacy group
Coordinator of the group and Commissioner for Education (Secondary) Mrs Elizabeth Wapmuk Petkwap said governor lalong who is the chairman of the Nineteen northern governors forum haven Preformed excellently well while governing the state through his transformative activities which has drawn him to the people of the state deserves a better reward which informed this decision to send him to the National assembly to represent the southern zone as a Senator.
The group described governor lalong as an accomplished administrator who has gathered enough experience to represent the zone at the national assembly

The Coordinator said the Rulling All progressive Congress in Plateau state has attracted a large crowd of personalities into the Party which has made the party the dancing bride of the people, this Singular action is attributed to the efforts of the alert governor Simon lalong
The women political appointees is a group of women appointed into political officers from the six local government area which made up the southern zone and by extension is ready to ensure the rescue governor emerges victories as the polls as he is the sole candidate and thier choice
She called on citizens of the southern zone to support the aspirant whose objective is to further transform the State.
The attention of the Hon. Member representing Shendam, Qua’anpan, and Mikang Federal Constituency, Hon. Komsol Alphonsus Longgap, has been drawn to a rumor circulating on social media about an alleged impersonation accusation leveled against him, which ordinarily would have been discarded, but without setting the records straight, the unsuspecting public would be tempted to believe what they see.
It is quite disheartening, frivolous, and a desperate act by some disgruntled politicians who were threatened by the political star of Hon. Komsol, a widely accepted Lawmaker by the generality of the Constituents, and beyond whom their wildest dreams assume they would go to any length to tarnish the image of the highly celebrated people’s Preforming Lawmaker.
It is therefore important to note that the allegations that the member has duped a large number of people are completely absurd and a figment of the writer’s imagination, who can best be described as a yellow journalist who abandoned the process of hearing both sides before publishing such a politically motivated piece of garbage.
It’s common knowledge that Hon. Komsol is running for re-election, and while it’s true that he’s spending a lot of money to help his constituents, it’s myopic and cheap propaganda to claim that his benevolence is motivated by re-election. If these baseless accusers are actually familiar with the Hon. Member and his activities in the national assembly since his election, they will not be able to say this. This is because, even as a first-timer in the national assembly, Hon. Komsol has been a selfless leader, and his mission to provide democratic dividends to his constituents has been his top concern to the loving people of his constituency since 2019. There is no doubt that the Hon. Member’s track record and accomplishments over the previous three years have given many people, including these unhappy elements, sleepless nights. It is therefore not surprising that these claims have surfaced, especially at this crucial time of electioneering, especially for those who are unhappy with the transformation in his constituency and are willing to go to any length to smear his reputation. On this note, the Hon. Member wishes to debunk the falsehoods and exaggerated claims leveled against him by some unscrupulous, power-hungry elements hell-bent on tarnishing the Hon. Member’s reputation among his friends and family, colleagues, and poisoning the hearts of the peaceful and loving people of his constituency in the upcoming elections. This is seen as an attempt to destabilize and distract the Hon. Member from the task at hand. But, according to the Hon. Member, this has given him the courage to stand firm because he is determined to continue the good works he has begun in his constituency, and nothing will be able to stop him because he trusts in God rather than man. The Hon. Member would like to encourage the people of his constituency to disregard this rumor and stay focused on the path ahead. Nothing will be able to stop him from delivering the democratic benefits to his people if God wills it. JM Dakas Media Consultant to the Honourable Member
It is no longer news that the Plateau State Governor Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, has a preferred governorship aspirant in his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the person of Dr. Nentawe Yilwada. There is also a report that they have concealed the identity of the delegates and made them inaccessible and incommunicado to other governorship aspirants. The selection of the delegates was biasly done in favour of the preferred aspirant and not on a level playing ground. Truth be told, the Governor has a right to support the candidate of his choice since he will also vote at the party’s primaries, but what is worrisome here is the indignity meted to other aspirants who have contributed immensely to his victory at the 2015 and 2019 polls by following politically ill processes to ensure the victory of his aspirant as the flag bearer of the APC. The Minister of Works, Babatunde Raji Fashola said, “Those who will benefit from the common wealth purse, must contribute to the common purse.” Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe said, “If rates must be paid, then let there value for money.” The other aspirants have paid their dues by ensuring the sustenance of the party at its darkest hour through mobilizing support in various ways and advocating that its the best in Plateau and Nigeria. With the fanatical 7 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, local government areas, if all the other aspirants were not in the APC, it would have been extinct by now. The aspirants have heavily contributed to the party, and should be rewarded with a level playing ground, and allowed to meet the delegates. If this is not done, it is tantamount to paying rates without value for money, and repaying good with evil, which is totally unjust. The Scripture says, “Do not muzzle the ox that thresh the corn.” Meaning a labourer is worthy of his wages. 1 Timothy 5:18. The wages of the aspirants right now is a level playing ground. It should be noted that Dr. Nentawe did nothing for the APC, and shouldn’t be allowed bogus advantage over the sweat of others. He has been in the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which does not permit its workers to play politics, but be neutral. If Nentawe was supporting the APC secretly, it showed he was violating his oath of office and it was gravious offence. Oath of office is the solemn declaration before God and men that the tenets of what one embarks on will be adhered to. So, if he was supporting the party, he does not deserved to be supported, because it shows he can break his oath of office as governor as he did in INEC. And if he wasn’t supporting the APC, it means he did nothing for it, so how can he benefit above those that sustained the party?
Poor reward system kills political parties, and kills the morale of those who selflessly and meriteriously served them. Who shall give his/her all to the party just at the end for a cabal in positions to reward their friends who did not labour for the party at his/her expense? The existence of a political party depends on the goodwill of its members for it, just as the existence of the members depends on the goodwill of the party for them. If level playing ground is given to all and the aspirants lost to Nentawe in a clean way, most of them will support him and their supporters. But if a level playing ground is not given, it will attract massive protests at the polls.
Let all the aspirants have access to the delegates in the name of fairness, equity and justice.
The Plateau State All Progressives Congress (APC) national delegates on Thursday endorsed former Transport Minister and Presidential Aspirant, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, as he stormed the State in search of votes ahead of the party’s primary.
Amaechi, who was accompanied by a large delegation paid a courtesy visit to Governor Simon Bako Lalong at Victoria Gowom Hall in Little Ratified Jos, before meeting with the delegates at the Victoria Gowon Hall of the New Government House.
RT Hon Rotimi Amaechi told the delegates that he was in the State to seek their support and mandate to fly the flag of the party in 2023 because he has the competence and capacity to tackle the challenges of the nation.
He referred the delegates to his records of service as two-term Speaker and Governor of Rivers State, Former Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum, Minister of Transport and former Chairman, Conference of Speakers in Nigeria.
He said his relationship with Plateau State runs deep as he has worked with major stakeholders of the State over the years and promoted the interests of the State particularly during the administration of Governor Simon Bako Lalong with whom he shares close friendship.
Amaechi assured the people of Plateau State that the security and development issues of the State will be given priority when he becomes President of Nigeria.
Governor Lalong while welcoming Rt. Hon. Amaechi said the State was ripe for him to harvest the investment he has made over the years especially the support and encouragement he gave during the registration of the APC in Plateau State as well as the hurdles it had to cross to dislodge a sitting Government in 2015. He also did same in 2019 when the APC was reelected.
Lalong said “Rt. Hon. Amaechi believed in us even when many did not have confidence in us and refused to support us. He stood by us and saw to our victory. Even at the Federal Executive Council, we always received the assistance of Amaechi who protected the interests of Plateau State because we had no voice from those that were supposed to represent us. In fact, I am one Governor in Nigeria that has not been lucky with Ministers in the last 7 years.
We thank Rt. Hon. Amaechi who ensured that the Inland Container Depot, North Central HUB of the Shippers Council and the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail line passing through Jos were approved”.
Chairman of the APC Hon. Rufus Bature said the coming of Amaechi to Plateau State was a mere formality because his good works have been registered in the minds of the people and delegates who are determined to give him their votes.
Former Minister of Aviation in Second Republic Chief Samuel Mafuyai, Former Member Plateau House of Assembly Alice Dimlong, and Algon Chairman Plateau State Hon. Alex Naantuam reiterated that the delegates will make good their commitment to deliver Amaechi during the Presidential primaries.
In a session conducted by the Speaker Plateau State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Yakubu Sanda, Majority leader of the House Hon. Naanlong Daniel moved a motion that the delegates adopt Rt. HonAmaechi as the aspirant to be supported by Plateau delegation. Hon. Baba Hassan seconded the motion which was unanimously carried.
Dr Nentawe Yilwatda was adjudged the people’s favourite when he came tops among 43 governorship aspirants, scoring 70 per cent in the survey organised by the Plateau Initiative for Development and Advancement of the Natives (PIDAN). Dr Yilwatda score total of 193 in the survey across the political parties, making him number one of the people’s choice. PIDAN is development initiative organization that aims to entrench democracy, encourage investment and economic development in Plateau state. The second highest score behind Yilwatda was Prof Dakas C Dallas who scored 186. Following that is Dr Patrick Dakum who scored 154; Prof Sonni G Tyoden, 138, Mr. Sunday Biggs, 113; Mr. Later Dabang, 103 and others. Dr Yilwatda excelled in all the criteria and won across the different parts of the state, cutting across ethnic and religious lines, as Plateau is desirable of a patriotic, competent and visionary citizen that would succeed Governor Simon Lalong to continue with the development trajectory in the state. The survey carried out by PIDAN included inputs from the 53 nationalities in Plateau State. Recall that the position of PIDAN in 2014 against the sitting government of Governor Jona Jang’s government led to the sacking of the government and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). PIDAN is a neutral body that does not lean on any political party, hence the credibility of its surveys and that is why this survey includes aspirants of APC, PDP and other political parties that indicated interest to vie for the governorship of Plateau State irrespective of whether they purchased form or not. Statement from PIDAN’s secretariat, signed by its National President, Prof Aboi Madaki urged community development association leaders to use the survey as a guide, as it reflects the choice of the people of the state. “The survey represents the complete and collective opinion of the Community Development Associations (CDAs) Leadership. This ranking report, which is meant to help Community Development Associations Leadership, should advise their subjects with respect to their engagement in the political process. It will also help the national PIDAN leadership and its related supporting organisations in deciding the direction to follow in both primary and the general elections. The leadership will use this ranking report to advise political parties and key stakeholders on the need to bring in stronger rather than weak candidates as their flag bearers. We hope to be active partners with the political parties in bringing in strong flag bearers and by extension a better person as the Governor of the State,” the group said.
The Crisis rocking the Rulling All Progressive Congress in plateau state has taken a different dimension as frontline Gubernatorial Aspirant in Plateau State North Central Nigeria, Chief Ambassador Yohana Margif has resigned from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Margif, announced his decision on Tuesday while addressing journalists in Jos the state capital but did not state his next line of action.
His decision was conveyed in a letter which was presented to the APC ward Chairman of Margif/ Kopmur Ward in Mushere, Bokkos LGA Which was also copied to the APC LG and state executives.
In the letter dated May 17, 2022 Ambassador Yohana Margif stated the collapse of internal democracy in the Plateau State APC, impunity and imposition of Unpopular Candidates as part of his reasons to leave.According to the Philanthropist, the money he paid to APC for the purchase of forms should be used as his own part of donation to Foster the growth of democracy on the plateau, Nigeria and Africa and at large and not for the APC insisting that the bridge of APC to plateau state has broken and in total collapse.Chief Margif’s announcement comes barely two days after the ruling APC had concluded it’s screening for Gubernatorial aspirants across the
The G-18 Gubernatorial Aspirants under the rulling All Progressive Congress APC is set to present a consensus Aspirant to Compete with the Preferred Candidate of the Governor
Investigation by this medium reveals that for close to four days now Consultative meeting have been in going at various veunes to get a reliable and strong willed Aspirant to challenge the alleged candidate of the state governor Nentawu Yalwada
It would be recalled that 18 aspirants of the party had last week held a press conference read by its chairman Amos Gizo along side other Aspirants raised alarm of plight to impose a particular candidate by the state governor Simon lalong, his wife Regina lalong ,brother Fred APC National deputy secretary Festus Fantuer, Accountant General Cyril among others as those trying to impose former resident electoral commissioner Nentawa Yalwada as his preferred Candidate and also plans to temper with the state delegates list
The party secteriate through its publicity secretary Slyvnaus Nenmang debunked such allegations saying the party remains neutral in the build up to the primaries
Nenmang Said the state governor has not anointed a candidate but rather has advised them to select among themselves the best candidate for the party to avoid crack within the party but expressed surprise at the actions of the aspirants
Plateau Elders forum by its acting chairman wuyep also collaborated the Position of the party saying the governor is neutral and would not in any way destroy the party through imposition as alleged by the aggreived aspirants
But a new colour was added into the issue as a Political group led by Barr Umar Shittien and Samalia Makama in a press Conference also said the actions of the governor through his body language proves that he has an anointed candidate saying if steps are not taken a repeat of 2014 actions of the former Governor Jonah Jang will happen as thier were part of the people who did plateau project that ushered in governor Simon lalong as governor in 2015 under All Progressive Congress APC
From available information the G-18 has perfected plans to adopt a consensus candidate to Slug it out with the governor’s preferred Candidate

Former Vice President, Alhaj Atiku Abubakar On Monday ordered Journalists out of the PDP Hall moments before he met with Plateau delegates.
The former Vice President who arrived the Plateau State PDP Secretariat at about 2:19pm was visibly distraught seeing a cream of print and broadcast Journalists as he repeatedly ordered them out saying ” I have nothing to do with journalists., Get out of here I’m here to see delegates”.
The order by the PDP presidential aspirant was a motivation for the gun welding and over zealous security details who then attacked reporters, causing a stampede, and damaging the tripod and camera of the Channels Television crew.
It is the first time a presidential aspirants visiting the PDP state secretariat in Plateau state will take a definite stance on journalists not to provide coverage for such kind of visits in the past three weeks.
With a total of 85 national delegates from Plateau, the former Vice President is is in a desperate move to sway delegates to cast their ballots for him during the presidential primaries of the leading opposition party.
Atiku’s burden of trust, depleted public perception, and unfavorable national mood were worsened recently after Muslims students of the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, murdered Deborah Joshua in an extra judicial context after charging spuriously of blasphemy.
After claiming to have condemned the savage murder of Deborah Joshua, Atiku Abubakar quickly deleted his Twitter and Facebook statement to pitch tent with his voters in the north who threatened him of the possibility of loosing millions of votes as a result of the tweet

The attention of the All Progressives Congress, APC Plateau State Chapter has been drawn to a purported list of Special Congress Committee for the conduct of this week’s delegate election in Plateau state. The list of those to conduct this all important exercise in the state would be duly communicated to the party and would be made known to our members accordingly.

PRESS RELEASE! PRESS RELEASE!! PRESS RELEASE.
OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER, STUDENTS’ UNION GOVERNMENT, UNIVERSITY OF JOS.
DATE:MAY 15TH,2022. TIME:12:53 AM
RE: Students Leaders Endorsed Dr. Nentawe for Plateau Guber. as published by media Houses
In a discountenance to the above headlined news, the University of Jos Students’ Union Government, House of Parliament under the auspice of Rt. Hon. Nanshin Prosper Lakai, who is one of the top Students Leaders in the only Federal University in Plateau State – University of Jos which by extension is the most popular institution currently existing in Plateau State wishes to in totality declaim the so said assertion that Students Leaders in the various institution of learning in Plateau State under the aegis of Campus Leaders Network have endorsed any Aspirant for the gubernatorial seat of Plateau State.
In fact, every right thinking Student is currently feeling the bad effect of the ongoing strike and are nursing the possible ways to bring the seem unending strike to a halt so that they would continue with their academic journey driven at successful end.
The Speaker and Members of the University of Jos Students House of Parliament frown at the immoral act of the said body and have viewed only as an attempt by some elements who are currently not Students or Students with academic defects to have a draw of water from the straw of politicians to fill up their money thirst belly.
The Speaker and the Members of the University of Jos Students House Of Parliament are people with value for education and are always in support of courses that would promote education in Nigeria always.
We wish to state categorically that we as genuine students are always united by lecture hours and academic prosperity for the advancement of our society and not political activities with no concern for the current plight of the ‘great Nigerian Students’.
We are however by this press release not in any way trying to stop any Nigerian student in and out of our immediate constituency from supporting their candidate of choice but we the genuine student leaders have not in anyway met or agreed to endorse any candidate for Gubernatorial seat or otherwise.
The said fraud of a student leader’s network have only taken the course for self satisfaction and not speaking the minds of the vast majority of Nigerian Students schooling in the various tertiary institutions in Plateau State.
We stand against this action and we in totality condemn it and distance the entire Students and Members of the University of Jos community from the said selfish and uncultured act.
In reiteration the press conference is never a reflection of any genuine Student – we are determined at only drawing the attention of the government to immediately take the necessary action call off the ongoing ASUU strike that is currently at it’s third month and a newer extension by twelve weeks announced recently by the academic union.
We shall continue to implore Students to disregard and treat your unsolicited movement as illegal to the Students body.

Plateau State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Advisory Council has warned against imposition of candidates on the citizens, noting that it is contrary to the tenets of democracy all over the world.
The council also said the situation had been agitating the minds of Plateau people and heating up the polity unnecessarily.
In a statement, yesterday, acting chairman of the council, Danladi Wuyep, noted that APC had already come out with guidelines on members’ conduct during the primaries.
It advised, therefore, that those who paid for forms be treated fairly and given level-playing ground to participate.
“Where a consensus has been adopted, all the contestants must consent to same by affixing their signatures on a document, which shall serve as evidence of accepting the outcome of such a consensus.
“There should be no imposition of a candidate on the people. Rather, personal interest should be buried to the Plateau project to excel,” the council stated.
ANOTHER group in Plateau known as ‘APC Patriots’ has warned Governor Simon Lalong and other party leaders to avoid the bait of imposing a governorship candidate on its members, saying it will be counter-productive and adversely affect the party.
The Chairman of APC Patriots, Mark Ibrahim, stated, yesterday, that the alleged plan to impose the former Benue State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Nentawe Yiltwada, on the party would be resisted.
According to him, it will be disastrous to allow the imposition of an unpopular candidate whose membership of the party is uncertain to fly the party ticket.
He said the scenario that led to the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state in 2015 was gradually playing out in APC, noting that Plateau PDP lost the governorship election to APC as a result of imposition.
“Plateau abhors injustice in all its ramifications. The people, especially party members, should not be taken for granted. We need to be consistent and steadfast. The party should be cautious not to dance to the tune of some overzealous and selfish politicians.
“All of us laboured to build the party on the Plateau. Therefore, foisting a candidate on the rest of the aspirants and the party will not only be a disservice but counter-productive in 2023. It may interest the party and members to know that the main opposition party, the PDP in the state has started jubilating over the alleged plan to impose an unpopular candidate on the party,” he stated.
The group, therefore, called on the national leadership of the party to investigate the sudden membership of Dr. Yiltwada and call the state chapter to order, to avoid protest votes in 2023
It has come to the notice of the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government council that one Mr. Zulfa Rimven has applied for a loan of two hundred million ( 200,000,000) naira on behalf of Langtang North Local Government.
The loan which has gotten the approval of the Langtang North Legislative arm and the Plateau State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Is meant to make the imposter rich to the detriment of poor tarok taxpayers who will be tasked to refund the loan.
The Executive Chairman Hon. Ubandoma Joshua Laven wishes to warn the management of Zenith Bank, Guarantee Trust Bank ( GTB), and Union Bank not to approve such loans or enter into any business deals on behalf of Langtang North Local Government Council with the said Mr. Zulfa Rimven as there are several court rulings ordering him to vacate office and stop parading himself as the Chairman of Langtang North Local Government.

Ubandoma Joshua Laven to complete his tenure in office as the Executive Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Council.
It is disheartening that where salaries of local government staff and teachers have not been paid for 4months, the imposter wants to further impoverish the poor staff and pensioners. The people of Langtang North whose mandate is being robbed must be warned of the fraudulent activities of the imposter chairman and to assure that the elected chairman Hon. Ubandoma Joshua Laven will not fold his arms and watch our common heritage being looted by the impostor.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has implied a change to its timetable for running in the 2023 general elections, moving its Special Congresses for Delegates to May 16 and 17. Special Congresses were originally set on Thursday, May 12, but the Party, which is currently in a race against time, decided to move the date to enable time for key announcements and committee member orientation before the Congresses. After its National Convention on March 26, 2022, the ruling party will offer the third time a schedule for the crucial primary elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a warning to political parties about meeting their own primary election deadline.
The most recent alteration, according to reports, was to allow the party to form a committee for the special congresses, which were previously set for Thursday, May 12, 2022. When it became clear on Monday that three days to the Special Delegate Congresses, a committee to that effect had yet to be formed, sources told Actual news Newspaper that APC Secretary General Iyiola Omisore was given a marching order ‘from above’ to meet with a few other stakeholders and adjust the timetable.A newly formed committee should also be briefed in advance of the Special Congresses. “All of these things can’t happen between now and Thursday,” a party chieftain declared Monday night.
With the revised schedule, the party will be able to form the Special Congresses Committee and hold a brief workshop on the modalities for them.” A new Timetable, released on Tuesday, May 10th, 2022, indicated new dates for all congresses, with the exception of the Presidency, which will take place between May 30 and June 1, 2022. Congresses to elect Local Government Area, State, and National Delegates will be held May 16 to 17, 2022, according to the proposed new schedule; Primary Elections for governorship candidates will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022; State House of Assembly, Sunday, May 22; House of Representatives, Tuesday, May 24; Senate, Wednesday, May 25.

In what appears to be an attempt by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Plateau state to curry the support of workers through its press release on 2nd May, 2022, it rather ended up ridiculing itself in the process. Nothing can be more misplaced, misfired or misdirected than anybody moreso a party which became the worst enemy of workers to accuse Governor Simon Bako Lalong as being anti workers. Based on his trajectory of paying workers in the state as and when due, on their own volition, they decided to tag him “Governor Alert”. The PDP in its futile press release accused the governor of not paying workers for the past two (2) months which is false. Records available to the APC clearly shows that all February salaries have been paid while March salaries for 69 out of 76 MDAs have been paid while those of the remaining 7 MDAs are being paid along with April salaries which payments commenced yesterday. Let the PDP which has totally lost its memory be reminded that it left the payment of workers’ pensions and gratuities untouched, in addition to eight months salaries which this government cleared should not blackmail it for any reason. The workers know very well who their genuine friend is between Lalong and the disgracefully exited PDP administration. On pension payment, the Lalong administration has captured and placed all retiring workers on pension which has never been the case before the advent of his administration. The APC administration in the state living to its true billing as a rescue administration has so far paid pensions including backlogs left by the previous administration amounting to N1.826, 734, 335. 34 with the following breakdown. January 2017 – July 2019 – N332, 754, 122.87 August 2019 – December 2919 N380, 120,453.45. January 2020 – December 2020 – 552, 843, 907.35 January 2021 – December 2021 -N270, 758, 351.56 January 2022- March 2022 – N22, 499 156. 55 respectively. With respect to gratuity which was a no go area to the defunct PDP administration in the state, the Lalong administration has so far paid a total of N3, 169, 646, 833.22. The breakdown is as follows; January 2017 – July 2019 – N90, 249, 045.66 August 2019 -December 2019 – N364, 400,256.79 January 2020- December 2020 -N1,181,258, 827.87 January 2021 – December 2021 N684, 812, 647.19 January 2022 – March 2022 N89, 026, 655.94. Death benefits of N202,691,005.49 were also paid. This brings the total benefits paid by the Rescue Administration to N5, 199, 072, 174.22. Figures don’t lie. These are available to anyone who cares to crosscheck to do so. A heartless and uncaring government that was chased out of office due to its unfriendly workers policies should not have the audacity to set the workers and retirees against a performing government that the Lalong administration is. It also tried to drag the Lalong administration to the mud by calling it all sundry names which has become its pass time. For instance ,the PDP has always referred to the Lalong administration as a failed and non performing administration. This is nothing but laughable. The government has nurtured and rebuilt confidence amongst the diversed ethnic groups which had been totally eroded by the preceeding administration where the citizenry lived in a cloud of uncertainty. The former governor could not go to certain areas within the State capital for fear of being stoned due to his very divisive polices. The fabrics which held the state together were highly fractured and polarised. Democracy dividends existed only in the imagination of the administration as project flights from the State were unprecedented. The Lalong administration has attracted from the federal government unimaginable projects especially in the field of education. The is apart from the unprecedented TETFUND funding of the Plateau State University and the Plateau State Polytechnic, the upgrading of the over 40- year-old Federal College of Education Pankshin to a degree awarding institution. The establishment of the Federal Polytechnic in Shendam cannot certainly be a pleasing development to the PDP which some of its members referred to its own government as being headed by a Boko Haram based of his alergy to western education. Time and space would not allow us to mention the federal presence in the state under the Lalong administration. The PDP also alleged that the Lalong administration has executed no projects for Mr President to come and commission. Certainly this government does not believe in window dressing and the concentration of projects running into billions of naira in one small ward of the former Governor’s Local Government. Lalong would invite not only Mr President but the people of Plateau state to witness the commissioning of concrete and well spread protects that tough the lives of the generality of our people. Just to remind the PDP and invite it to see the level of state of the art work going on at the British America flyover construction. It didn’t believe the project would ever start but construction is on 7/24 . The destroyed Jos Main Market contract would soon be awarded and completed within the lifespan of this administration which the the PDP hates to listen to or witness. Funnily the PDP is accusing Governor Lalong of guiding the ongoing sales of the APC nomination forms in the state while it claimed its own are being sold to all eligible members of the party. There is no basis for comparison. Seeing is believing. We invite the PDP to take a ride to the APC Kalwa House party secretariat to see the flurry of activities at the Secretariat which has become a beehive over the sale of forms at all levels. The governor, an acknowledged democrat has no business in the sale of forms and who to sell to and who not to sell to as this is purely the business of the prty organs at the State and national levels. The PDP is advised to mind its business as our process is going on seamlessly ,unhindered and uninhibited as directed by the National Secretariat of our great party unlike the rudderless operation at the sinking secretariat and the questionable and litigation infested party. The party’s contemplation of it being the option for Plateau state in 2023 is as wishful thinking as it is dead on arrival. Plateau people cannot be part of the PDP amnesia as they are ever committed to a Plateau that is united and freed from all cleavages of bigotry and self serving.
With heart full of joy, I, Hon. Ernest Abner Da’a, Executive Chairman Qua’an-Pan LGC, on behalf of the Council and the entire people of the area, heartily join the First Family on the Plateau and other people of goodwill in celebrating His Excellency the Governor of Plateau State and Chairman Northern Governors Forum, Rt. Mmember representing Pankshin ,Kanam ,Kanke (PKK ) in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi has condemned without equivocation, the terrorist attacks on several communities in Kanam Local Government Area; Kukawa, Kyaram, Gyambau and Dungur among others, leaving in their wakes, the gory tales of human annihilation and destruction of valuables.
The lawmaker in a statement made available to newsmen said he was in Madina for lesser Hajj along with some of his colleagues when the news of the attack broke.
He commiserates with the families of those who lost their loved ones and prayed God almighty to forgive shortcomings of the victims and grant them everlasting rest.
The lawmaker, who chairs an Armed Forces Committee of the House says he swiftly contacted the Minister of Defence, Gen. Magashi (rtd), to request for immediate military presence in the affected communities and those bordering them in order to arrest the surging activities of bandits in communities within his Constituency.
Gagdi fumed at federal government’s negligence to provide security to Plateau communities, despite intelligent reports by the DSS, of the influx of bandits fleeing to Plateau and other neighbouring states over nine months before this attack was carried out.
According to him, the federal government, who has exclusive control of security apparatus in the country has woefully failed in its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property of Nigerians.
Gagdi expressed outrage at the devastating state of security in the country, positing that somebody has been negligent in the discharge of his duties to Nigerians, maintaing that it was high time the federal government owned up to their inability to discharge this sacrosanct duty it owes Nigerians.
Gagdi said he was going to cut short the lesser Hajj and return to the country in order to visit the affected communities to console victims of the attacks, provide relief materials, as well as to see for himself the extent of damages inflicted on the communities by the daredevil marauders.
He commended Governor Lalong for his swift response to the dastardly situation. Even though the governor has no direct control over the security operatives within the state, his swift intervention to reach out for security interventions in times of infractions has always been commendable, the lawmaker has said.
Gagdi raised the alarm for citizens within boundary communities, particularly in Wase and Kanam local government areas to be on the alert, as fleeing bandits from Zamfara and other North-West states are traced to be camping within the thick bushes in the mentioned local government areas.

Raising from increased security challenges culminating in forceful land grabbing and other social vices bedevilling Nigeria, the Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, task Federal Government to intensify measure towards arresting and prosecuting criminal elements who bent on making the country ungovernable.
ECWA made the clarion call at the end of its 69th General Church Council (GCC) meeting of the Evangelical Church Winning All held from Monday 4th to Friday 8th April, 2022, in Jos the State capital, as delegates from the 91 District Church Council (DCC) that form ECWA denomination present.
In a ten points communique jointly signed by ECWA President Rev. Dr. Stephen Baba Panya and General Secretary Rev. Gunmen have abducted the wife and daughter of the Plateau State Commissioner for Environment and frontline aspirant for Mangu Bokkos federal Constituency Usman Bamaiyi.

The menace of drug trafficking and abuse coupled with its spiraling effect of cultism and crime, is a cankerworm ravaging the youthful population in Nigeria, with Plateau State feeling the brunt. This concern formed the nucleus of discourse with the Plateau State commandant of the NDLEA, Mr. Umar Yahuza where he lamented a surge in the use of narcotic drugs as evidenced in the arrests and convictions of drug traffickers lately. It is the root cause of this menace that Gov Simon Lalong is attacking by providing massive employment and engagement for youths by pumping over nine billion naira into the ongoing construction of the British/America flyover bridge. With this innitiave, the teeming youths in the state are already being engaged in various ways as construction superintendents, project engineers, construction estimators, construction inspectors, journeyman electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, carpenters and artisans. The multiplier effect is the creation of a new stream of income for food vendors, recharge card sellers and transporters, amongst others. This, in turn, will improve the local economy, as the workers employed in the project will have wages to pass along to other local businesses. But that is just the beginning of the mission by the Lalong administration to rescue the state from unemployment and poverty which fuel youth restiveness. The construction of the Jos Main Market is another well thought out project that will double the domino impact of these benefits. It can be likened to the Indian construction industry which employs about 51 million people – the second-largest employer – and contributes around 9% to the country’s GDP and in addition, creates more than 45 million direct and indirect jobs in the Asian country. The British/America flyover and the Jos Main Market is sure to play a significant role in aggregate economy of the state in terms of its contribution to revenue generation, capital formation and employment creation which ultimately support the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and socio-economic development. The wages and personal income earned by these workers will improve and enable citizens to pay their sales and property taxes. With these, the internally generated revenue of the state is bound to increase astronomically in the coming days, as Gov Simon Lalong reinvents the “civil service” state into a pool of budding entrepreneurs. One recalls that it was in the year 2015, that Lalong, then the All Progressives Congress APC) governorship candidate in Plateau State, made a vow at the Nenpun Arena in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau state, to rebuild the Jos Terminus Main Market if elected into office. As a man who walks his talks, Lalong did not forget the pledge he made to the people and kick-started the process for its realisation. After several preliminary works that included a survey on the site and later bringing the old structure down, the Governor awarded the contract for the rebuilding of the market last month ending the search for a viable investor which started in August 2016 but yielded little results until respite came from Jaiz Bank PLC with an offer to fund the construction with acceptable model. The concept designs and financial projections was subjected to a rigorous process by relevant government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) made up of the Attorney General and commissioner of justice, Ministries of Commerce and Industry, Housing, Bureau of Public Private Partnerships, Debt Management Office, Plateau Investments and Property Company Ltd under the meticulous lense of the Harvard trained Chief of Staff, Noel Donjur. After robust engagement, the Plateau State Executive Council approved the engagement of Jaiz Bank in tow with their recommended contractor, to deliver the project in 12 months at the cost of N9.412 billion naira, all things being equal.
This is 37 years after the market was commissioned in 1985, and 20 years after the market was destroyed by fire in the year 2002.
As expected, the award of the contract which marks a significant step towards rebuilding the edifice and towards fulfilling the promise made by the governor, has been greeted with excitement because of the potentials it holds to the state government as a revenue earner, to citizens as a center of commerce and others as a tourists site.
What many do not understand is that in awarding the contract, Governor Lalong has also worked out quite a number of benefits to save the state from incurring further costs in its bid to rebuild the market.
The first is that the contract would be carried with a zero interest as Jaiz Bank, which won the N9.4 billion contract,to rebuild the market under a PPP agreement will do so at a zero percent interest.
With so much needed to carry out other projects, the state government has hit the bulls eyes with this arrangement by freeing what would have been debited as interests for the contract to be used for other projects.
By this, the state government is keying into the financial tact of the Federal Government and world best practices which focus on award of contracts under similar interest free arrangements to save the government funds to develop other sectors.
The market on completion is projected to consist of 3-floor edifice of 4,312 shops at an estimated construction rate of N98,000/sqm, with the standard shop size of 3m x 4m = 12sqm.
As the bank is enabled to appoint the contractor based on competence and to supervise work till it is delivered to specification, the agreement comes with a form of guarantee on both quality and meeting of deadline.
The idea of rebuilding the market also comes with innovation that would revive trade and commerce on the Plateau and boost the economic potentials of the state.
In addition to the 4231 shops, adequate provision for spaces to house banks, a park, police station and Admin Block have also been made to adequately address issues of security and maintenance.
Having over 4,000 number of shops concentrated in one place is like housing multiple plazas in one place or constructing a mini Dubai!
With the burning of the market in 2002, the state has for the past 20 years endured the absence of a major commercial nerve center that galvanizes both commercial and social activities of that magnitude.
The Jos main market in its hey days, used to contribute about 40 to 50% of the state’s internally generated revenue while pulling major investors, entrepreneurs and others to the state because of its potentials.
With its breathtaking architecture, colourful design and towering height, it was more than a place for the exchange of goods but had become a social center for meaningful interaction which fosters unity and cohesion among the diverse groups in the state.
As the brain child of our respected founding father of Plateau, Joseph Gomwalk, every Plateau citizen views rhe market with a sense of nostalgia.
Incidentally, it was General Muhammadu Buhari who as head of state commissioned the market in 1985 under the then military government of Samuel Atukum.
What a better way to relive the 37 year old memory than rebuilding the market under the President Buhari administration and handing it over to the people in May 2023.

Deputy Governor of Plateau State, Prof. Sonni Tyoden,
has declared his intention to vie for the governorship seat of the State in 2023 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC.
Tyoden who publicly disclosed his intention in Jos at Kallwa house before moving to the state APC Seceteriate in Jos, said “my fellow compatriots, it gives me considerable pleasure to share with you my aspiration to the Governor of our dear State in 2023 by the grace of God. “
The deputy Governor said he believes strongly that he has a great deal to contribute to the development of Plateau State given his experience in the enterprise of governance for nearly seven years now.
“I have been a passionate and uncompromising co- driver of the Rescue Administration ably led by Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong, the Executive Governor of Plateau State and Chairman, Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF).”
I can proudly declare that the Rescue Administration under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Simon Bako Lalong has redefined governance in the state and this explains the significant progress in the socioeconomic and political development recorded in the state.
Tyoden further said that his aspiration is partly motivated by the burning desire to sustain and possibly expand the frontiers of the legacies of the Rescue Administration in the state.
“It is common knowledge that Plateau State is a microcosm of the larger Nigerian society in the sense that it is characterised by the same social pluralism such as ethnic, religious, cultural and linguistic diversity. Governing a state that is as diverse as Plateau State requires one with good sense of tact, strategic and critical thinking to build robust social cohesion and harmony among the diverse social elements as a necessary precondition for sound and effective governance.”
“This is what the Rescue Administration has successfully done and I hope to improve on it to bring about seamless unity and harmony among the diverse groups in the state. Once we have been able to overcome the challenge of unity and integration in the Plateau State, the foundation for good governance that will make citizens radiate with happiness and contentment is laid.”
This will eliminate all sources of social frictions that have conspired to slow down the pace of development of the state.
The deputy Governor further said that his over 40 years of public service experience has adequately equipped and prepared him for the arduous task of governing the state.
“Most of my working life has been in the University system where I rose to become the Vice-Chancellor of the prestigious University of Jos between 2006 and 2011. “I came on board at the time the University community was deeply polarised along different tendencies and had nearly crippled the administration of the University.
“Through systemic, critical and strategic thinking, I was able to unite the diverse interests in the University and to give every group a sense of inclusion and belonging in the mainstream affairs of the University. With all sense of humility, I can say so far, I have been the most celebrated Vice-Chancellor of the University.
“I could not have done this alone but I provided strategic leadership towards this end. This same experience can be used to build Plateau State that is socially cohesive, politically stable, economically prosperous and culturally integrated.”
He added that Plateau State has come a long way in the trajectories of development, the people have seen the good, the bad and ugly.
“The Rescue Administration that I have been part of since 2015 has been a sensitive, caring and responsive administration driven by the values of integrity, transparency, accountability, trust, and rule of law conscious.
“These ethical principles underwrite our administration and I will remain faithful to them to drive governance under my leadership.
Accordingly, we will run an all inclusive government that reflects the social diversity of the state.
Youth, women and persons living with disability will be accorded the highest consideration in the composition of government.”
This is to afford them two groups the much-desired opportunity to contribute to the governance of the state. Plateau State has always been known for its progressive orientation and this will be improved upon to give these special groups audible voice in the enterprise of governance, he stressed.
